Prep Right is based around the Monmouth area, and a good share of our work comes from neighbors — people who’ve seen a job we finished down the street and wanted the same thing for their own place.

Most projects start with one of a few questions: Can you match this old paint color? How fast can you turn around this rental? Will this actually look better than it does now? Usually the answer to that last one is yes, especially once the prep work happens first.

Where we spend our time

Walls and ceilings are the obvious ones, but a lot of the difference in a finished space comes from the smaller stuff — trim, doors, molding, baseboards, cabinets and built-ins. We treat those the same way we treat the big surfaces: clean lines, even coverage, no rushed corners.

For rental and commercial properties, we’re used to working around move-out and move-in dates, tenant schedules, and the general reality that these spaces get painted more often than a typical home. Office repaints, common areas, and turnover work between tenants are all jobs we handle regularly.

Our process, briefly

1. Look at the space and figure out what prep it actually needs
2. Clean, sand, patch, caulk, and mask as needed
3. Prime where the surface calls for it
4. Paint — usually two coats for full, even coverage
5. Walk through with you before we call it done
